Listening to and supporting women

In addition to my private clinical practice (as can also be found in the area of my training and experience ) I carry out activities and collaborate with third sector entities , associations and cooperatives in the Turin area.

Among these, I participate once a week in a self-help group of the Casa delle Donne , a historic institution of Italian feminism since 1979.

This type of groups are less structured and rigid than therapeutic groups, although they are always led and mediated by a psychotherapist.

The women who participate usually come from different backgrounds and different age groups.

In February 2022 I participated, in the same association, in the training course in listening and supporting women who have suffered violence and discrimination.

Thanks to the participation of some colleagues and other professionals (for example lawyers), it was possible to deepen aspects such as legislation and health around women in Italy, in history and at this time, as well as possible projects to respond to the needs that still represent. the conditions of women.

In my professional practice I seek continuous training on issues such as that of women in all their facets and stages of life.

It is important to me because, among other obvious reasons, in practice the majority of my patients are women, and because I am particularly sensitive to issues of discrimination and gender-based violence .

In my academic training I was also able to participate in the therapeutic group called “Social Dreaming” created in the early 1980s by W. Gordon Lawrence at the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations in London .

It has been amply demonstrated that the group, as both a direct and indirect therapeutic tool, is useful and suitable for situations such as those of groups of people with similar characteristics such as those of violence or discrimination, in this case.
